How to clean a tea strainer?

How to clean a tea strainer?

Do you enjoy a nice cup of tea every day? If so, you need a tea strainer to make sure your tea is clean and free of leaves. But how do you clean a tea strainer? Check out this guide for tips on how to get your tea strainer squeaky clean!

The dirty tea strainer is a problem that every drinker has to face at one point or another. Even if you are able to wash and dry your strainers regularly, they still get clogged with small particles which make them look dull in appearance as well! What's worse? When this happens - all the water will go right through but nothing comes out because there isn't enough space for air bubbles between grooves on its bottom side where dirt often builds up after prolonged use without being cleaned properly the first time around.

Why tea strainer become dirty?

Tea strainers are made from metal, plastic, or mesh. When you drink tea, the two molecules (theanine and theophylline) will stick to the strainer, resulting in the formation of scum. If you are familiar with tea, then it is common to see the tea stain built up on all the grooves and spaces in the strainer.

Where does tea stain come from?

You might be wondering how to prevent this, especially since the stain will make your tea less enjoyable to drink. The simplest answer is that it's usually caused by the residue of fine dust of tea leaves after boiling water.

How to prevent tea strainers from getting dirty?

The best way is to clean your tea strainer after using it once. However, if you wait until the next day to clean your tea strainer for some reason or another, you can follow these tips to clean it the right way!

Clean a tea strainer with baking soda

The best way to clean your metal or plastic tea strainer is by soaking it in warm water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda mixed into the solution.

After 3-4 hours, brush off any dirt that has accumulated on top of what you can see while still keeping them wet so they don't dry out too much! You'll then need some dishwashing soap and lots of rinse cycles before ending up back where we started.

Clean Tea Strainer with Vinegar

Step 1. Prepare a bowl and pour the vinegar about 10 oz. (Can variant depends on the size of strainer).

Step 2. Soak the strainer into the vinegar and wait about 4 hours, or you can also leave it overnight.

Step 3. Use a toothbrush or kitchen brush to rub the strainer, you will see that the stain can be removed easily.

Step 4. Clean the strainer with detergent and rinse with water.

Step 5. Leave strainer to dry in an airy place. Done!

Tips:

You can also warm up the vinegar to about 50~60 centigrades to get better performance. At this temperature, vinegar can be activated well.

Frequency of Cleaning the Tea Strainers

How often you should clean the tea strainer? Actually, you do not need to clean it every time after drinking. you can determine if need to clean visually or clean it weekly if you drink tea every day!

How to prevent more tea stains?

Recommend to use the metal tea strainer instead of plastic. When the plastic strainer is dirty, it appears terrible and stains may not always be eliminated completely.

Final

There are many different ways to clean a tea strainer. I tried all methods and they all work very well. You can select any method based on your preference, but if you want my opinion then try the baking soda/vinegar technique because it left my strainers feeling pretty good afterward (and probably smelling better). If you selected another method, let me know in the comments!
