1.what is Matcha?
Matcha is a finely milled green tea powder invented from Japan. It has been used for thousands of years as medicine and was originally grown only to be used in tea ceremonies. The method of growing, harvesting and producing matcha has not changed for centuries.
2.What are the health benefits of Matcha?
'The high levels of EGCG (a powerful antioxidant) in matcha are known to help burn fat, reduce stress and prevent diseases like cancer.'
Matcha green tea is packed with anti-oxidants which act as a shield against free radical damage. Matcha has 137x the anti-oxidant power of regularly brewed green tea! And other studies have shown that regular consumption of matcha can help lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease.
Matcha is also high in fiber, low in caffeine and contains a small amount of oleic acid, a fat which has been found to keep you feeling full for longer.
3.How to make Matcha tea?
Our ceremonial grade matcha green tea is made to be whisked with hot water in the traditional Japanese style.
Add one teaspoon of matcha powder to a cup. Pour in 4-5oz of hot (not boiling, 180 degree Fahrenheit) water and stir vigorously until the matcha has fully dissolved and you have a smooth green froth on top.
You can also use a bamboo matcha whisk to achieve the same results.
4.How do I store my matcha?
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Since matcha is so pure it easily absorbs other flavors and odors so keep your matcha away from strong smelling or flavored items.
It is best to use your matcha within 1 month of opening the package for maximum freshness and potency. Unopened packages can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 6 months, but once opened it should be used as quickly as possible.
5.How much caffeine is in Matcha?
Matcha contains approximately 35mg of caffeine per gram. In comparison, coffee contains approximately 120-180mg caffeine per gram.Thus you have to drink about 6x as much Matcha as you would coffee for the same effect.
