How to Make Matcha Lemonade Like Starbucks?
1) Place the matcha in a bowl and add 4 tablespoons of water. Whisk into a smooth paste, then add another 4 tbsp of water and whisk again. In a small saucepan bring 500 ml (2 cups) water to the boil over medium heat. Add the agave nectar, stir for 1 minute or until dissolved, then remove from heat.
2) Combine the matcha paste and agave mixture in a large jug and whisk together. Pour in the hot water and stir to combine. Add ice cubes and serve garnished with lemon slices.
Matcha is an excellent ingredient for sweet or savory dishes due to its subtle flavor. The addition of lemon juice will highlight matcha’s sweetness and balance its bitterness.
Matcha is made from high-quality green tea leaves that are ground into fine powder. It is an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. A single serving (2g) has more vitamin C than 100g of strawberries, as well as potassium, magnesium, and manganese.
Matcha tea is caffeine-free and serves as a natural energy booster making it perfect for afternoons or before workout sessions. For more information on the benefits of matcha check this blog post.
Lemon juice contains large doses of vitamin C, which helps to increase iron absorption during cooking. The health-promoting compounds in lemons are most concentrated in the peel. It is also high in pectin, which can help to lower LDL cholesterol and reduce heart disease risk.
NB: There is no need to buy matcha powder specifically for this recipe; you can use any that you have at home. A standard 20g bag of matcha will make approximately 20-30 servings of matcha tea.
