1. What is Orange Pu-erh tea?
This special, rare Pu-erh tea has a smooth and earthy flavor. To make this artisanal brew an incision is carefully carved into the roof of a tangerine fruit where they remove only its shell leaving behind loose-leaf Puerhs from Yunnan province which are delicately placed inside whole peeled oranges called “tangs”. The meat-loving leaves then age naturally over time allowing citrus oils infused within them to richly blend together for one delicious cup that will surely get your taste buds going!
Dried tangerine peel is known as ‘Chenpi’ in Chinese and is traditionally used to add flavor to cooking. This tea provides a great choice for seasoned or beginning steepers because it has an earthy, smooth taste with light notes of citrus that will highlight your skills even more! The leaf also contains sweet honey-like aromas from its citric undertones which make this perfect for any time you want something refreshing but not too strong tasting like alcohol might be able to do sometimes.
The entire process for this beverage is done by hand and in small batches to ensure authenticity. After being harvested, the peels are then carefully cleaned and dried before they’re cut into thin, ribbon-like pieces to make rolling easier. This Pu-erh is then rolled and placed in traditional orange and left to release its flavors over time.
