About Junshan Yinzhen Tea

Junshan Yinzhen Tea is a kind of yellow tea that originated on Junshan Island of Hunan Province in China. It is also planted around Dongting Lake where Junshan Island is located.

The other names of Junshan Yinzhen Tea are “Mount Jun Silver Needle”, “Superfine White Tea”, “Yin Zhen”, and “Superfine Silver Needle”.

Junshan Yinzhen, “Silver Needle(s) of the Gentleman Mountain”; Standard Chinese pronunciation s a Yellow tea from Junshan Island of the Hunan Province in China. It is one of the ten Chinese Famous Teas. Although the same kind of tea trees are also planted around Dongting Lake, where Junshan Island is located, those teas should not be called Junshan Yinzhen. The tea resembles the White tea Yinzhen known as Bai Hao Yinzhen. Junshan Yinzhen, allegedly the preferred tea of Chairman Mao Zedong, is a rare tea sometimes sold as White tea. 

Brew Guide

To Brew Jun Shan Yin Zhen tea is better to use clear mountain spring water, a tea set appropriate with transparent glass, glass height 10 ~ 15 cm, 4 ~ 6 cm in diameter at the top. With every cup of tea for about 3~6 g, the Brewing process is as follows:

(1) Enjoy tea

Ingesting a small amount of jun shan Yinzhen with a teaspoon, put it in a clean enjoy tea tray, for guests to view.

(2) Clean teaware

Preheat the cup with boiling water, clean the tea set, and drink water, in order to avoid buds’ water absorption and reduce the rate of buds erect.

(3) Position tea

Use a teaspoon gently extracted from the teapot junshan yinzhen about 3~6g grams, into the cup for brewing.

(4) Water pouring

Around 70 ℃ in the kettle boiling water, use the force of the water, after the first fast slow into cups, to 1/2, the buds. Later, then rushed to 70% or 80% of the cup’s volume. To make buds even water, accelerate the sink when available glass lid on the cup, after 5 minutes, remove the glass cover plates. Under the action of water and heat, tea’s appearance shape, the buds of ups and downs, the occurrence of air bubbles, etc., are rare when other tea, this is the unique atmosphere of jun shan island silver needle tea.

(5) Serve tea

Brewing about 10 minutes later, can start drinking. Hands a cup at this moment, a courtesy to guests.
